One of the last truly democratic spaces, the library has undergone an immense paradigm shift from its original purpose of housing and providing books to the public. In the twenty-first century, we have witnessed a transition to libraries that offer much more to the communities they serve. The Vinyl Music Library exemplifies this shift by housing vinyl records, recording studios, and more. Deconstructing the grid is imperative, and a new typology is needed, such as the Oblique, promoting deeper integration and connection to the surrounding context.
