Food Systems within The Ramble

Location | Central Park, NY

Date | Fall 2021

Examining Central Park's Ramble reveals a picturesque landscape akin to the Adirondacks, its ecosystems offering urban nutrient cycles. The pandemic worsened food scarcity in our concrete jungle. Central Park must transform into an agricultural hub to counter this, nourishing human and non-human communities. Frakcherd re-imagines spaces through a non-anthropocentric lens, using wood framing for hydroponics, creating a functional ecosystem. Its design invites a new temporal perspective, fostering diverse communities within. This innovative approach condenses Central Park's role to its origins – a dynamic, nourishing food system.
